Craig has lived on the Morninton Peninsula for over 40 years, his Great grandfather (George Morce) a stonemason whom built many well known landmarks in Sorrento including the Koonya Hotel and St John’s Church. With his Grandparents also living in Sorrento, Craig spent many of those early days trekking the Peninsula landscape that he paints passionately today .Craig experimented with watercolours and pastels in the late 90’s,however his favourite medium remains oils. Having a deep appreciation for the fine realist art of the past, and under recent guidance from John Bredl and Charlie Tong, he endeavour’s to achieve results comparable to the Old Masters while at the same time, remaining true to nature in the presentation of subject matter relative to contemporary life. Inspired by many of the great painters, including Monet,Corot,Streeton and more recently Zhaoming Wu and Daeni. Craig has an impressionistic approach with emphasis on light, movement and brush stroke.
